Full Stack Engineer (JavaScript)
Description
As an integral part of Cartasite’s Software Engineering team, the Full Stack Engineer will work on a small, versatile and passionate team. Your primary focus will be the front-end where you will tackle new problems as we continue to push our industries forward. You will design, test, deploy and maintain software solutions that solve customer problems at-scale. Your contributions will allow you to write mission-critical code that enables us to achieve our goal of getting people home safely and optimizing the operational challenges faced by our customers. We are looking for someone who can focus on the primarily on the front-end and can execute. We are looking for someone with strong server-side Javascript, experience scaling systems, and a background or interest in front-end system architecture. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.
What you will do:
- Collaborate closely with small, cross-functional teams of designers, developers and product managers to build new features and applications
- Full-stack development with front-end emphasis using a primarily javascript stack - Node.js, Loopback/Express.js, Postgres, with Angular on the front-end
- Support cross-functional feature teams with UI architecture expertise
- Working with cloud hosting technologies such as Amazon Web Services
- Design and extend existing APIs as needed to implement new functionality or improve data transfer between applications.
- Continuously search out new ideas and technologies to learn and share with your team members; help develop junior team members
- Encouraging and improving upon what works well, while cutting what isn’t
- Stay up to date on the latest development practices and strategies that make it possible to create amazing applications
Requirements
What you bring to the table:
- Strong development skills for creating fast, engaging applications for desktop and mobile
- You can fluently translate designs into HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- You aren't necessarily a designer, but you have an eye for detail, you can see when pixels are off, and you have a sense for usability
- You know the ins and outs of cross browser client development
- You appreciate maintainable HTML and CSS concerns such as semantic HTML and CSS specificity
- You understand JavaScript constructors, prototypes, and closures, and when to use them
- Preferably, you have experience with CSS pre-compiled languages, client build tools, and client testing tools
- Desire to work in a small environment with changing targets and deadlines
- Experience in developing integrations using REST APIs or similar technologies
- Ability to work in an Agile environment and write working code on a daily basis
- Ability to work on enterprise applications and deliver scalable solutions that meet and exceed customer goals
A few nice-to-haves:
- Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and/or hardware experience.
- Experience with mobile mapping libraries such as Mapbox
