Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Front-End UI Designer to join a passionate and talented team. If you’re someone who’s creative and loves to design user interfaces leveraging new technology, paradigms and practices to provide superior products, then look no further. 

ROLE IMPACT
You will work closely with our product management, development, and design teams to produce unique user experience concepts and finalized designs in the form of HTML/CSS for web-based products using a mobile first approach. Your responsibilities will include prototyping, designing, front-end coding, and maintaining design standards, in addition to creating custom digital media content that supports related product initiatives. The primary goal of this position is to elevate our product lines by providing appealing consistent designs, standards, and implementable re-usable front-end code that can be implemented and maintained by the development teams.

Skills & Requirements

What we’re looking for in a front-end designer:

• Highly motivated team-player with a passion for creating the best designs and user experience possible
• Proven ability to create wireframes/mockups and develop them into functional digital experiences.
• Portfolio that demonstrates outstanding visual design, including original concepts, hands-on design, and branding standards
• Strong creative skills in layout and typography. Ability to conceptualize multiple creative comps for presentation is a must
• Have a detail-oriented eye sensitive to the aesthetics of layout and best practices, as well as a keen sense of understanding for the latest approaches to user interface design.
• Experience in developing responsive websites.
• Expertise using design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, etc.
• Ability to write modular, reusable frontend web components using: HTML, CSS  (experience with Bootstrap, Sass, Less, Angular a plus)
• Solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions
• Flexibility to problem-solve in a fast-paced, self-driven environment
• Comfort delivering and receiving feedback, writing well-structured code, testing, iterating rapidly and collaborating with a variety of colleagues from different disciplines (marketing, design, engineering, and agency partners)
• Ability to work fast and manage trade-offs when faced with short deadlines
• Ability to clearly communicate your thought process
• Ability and confidence to take ownership of projects
What the front-end designer will do:
• Rapidly prototype and create high-fidelity designs using appropriate design tools.
• Create rich web UIs from prototype through using HTML/CSS and JavaScript that are responsive and scale across platform(s)
• Develop and maintain front-end HTML/CSS/JS, standards, while working collaboratively with internal teams.
• Collaborate with design team to build cross-browser compatible and performance-optimized UIs
• Establish the standards for the team in areas of design excellence, team leadership, and ownership of our prototypes and target product interactions.
• Work collaboratively with Product Management, Experience Design, and Product Development to develop user interfaces that can be tested easily and continue to scale as our team grows.
• Champion adherence to best practice design implementation methodologies across the entire team.
• Remain flexible, stepping in to help out during unexpected situations, while completing your own coding deliverables and code review responsibilities.
• Prototype creative solutions quickly and have the ability to collaborate with others in crafting and implementing the technical vision

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or other related discipline
• Strong visual design skills with the ability to translate designs into code
• Mastery with HTML/CSS/JS
• High-level of proficiency with Adobe CS
• Fluency developing front-end web or mobile applications
• Superior knowledge of responsive design, grid systems, deferred loading schemes, and clean animation rendering
• Understand web standards technologies, including jQuery, Bootstrap and libraries
• Strong desire to create the best front-end solutions and the ability to execute them
• Strong in your ability to work cross-disciplinarily, collaborating with designers, QAs and managers
• Mastery with communicating your ideas both design comps and in code.
• An inquisitive mind with great intellectual curiosity
• A deep appreciation of great design and craftsmanship; an exceptional eye for detail
