The Email Delivery Consultant gives our customers the tools and assistance needed to improve their email deliverability. You will identify and analyze delivery issues while educating customers on email best practices to help prevent further occurrences. You will be mastering your skill set with an in depth understanding of all SendGrid products, email delivery best practices and email infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide deliverability support and best practice education, as needed, to our customers and internally to our customer facing teams
  • Consult with customers and provide guidance on delivery topics including email authentication, abuse complaints, send strategy, segmentation, IP allocation, warm-up, reputation monitoring and integration with the SendGrid platform
  • Monitor customers’ performance using internal metrics and 3rd-party delivery tools
  • Work with Sales and Customer Success to vet new and upgrading customers
  • Work with Delivery Manager and Sr. Consultants to identify and support billable Delivery Services
  • Manage delivery escalation and provide timely responses through salesforce
  • Compile delivery data into account assessments including Email Delivery Reports (EDR)
  • Alert customers to potential problems and provide strategies to manage reputation
  • Investigate and address email delivery problems with specific ISPs and mailbox providers
  • Review customer configuration and practices and make suggestions on how to improve delivery through changes in infrastructure, server optimization, and policies
  • Work with marketing to generate blogs and webinars to drive thought leadership within the email industry
  • Build strong industry relationships through MAAWG and other relevant industry associations that will enable SendGrid to develop a leadership position in our industry
  • Work in partnership with internal teams, e.g., Account Managers, Dev, Product and Sales Teams, to help raise the visibility of deliverability within SendGrid and be of assistance to these various groups as they interact with prospects and customers and increase revenue opportunity.
  • Our delivery consultants will also work closely with our Compliance Agents to help reform customers who must improve their email practices (and are damaging our brand or the deliverability of other customers by sending unwanted or harmful mail)

About You

  • Happy, Hungry, Humble, Honest
  • Typically requires 4-5 years of relevant experience and/or in large scale email operations (sender, ESP, or receiver)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a customer consultative role
  • High technical aptitude
  • Motivated, goal-oriented and persistent
  • Intermediate Excel skills, MySQL, Splunk and Hadoop
  • A passion for customers and problem solving
  • High level of initiative
  • Experience using 3rd-party delivery tools (ReturnPath, eDataSource, Litmus, Email On-Acid)
  • Persuasive - Bring others to their point of view using logic, data, and emotion. Have a formal process and framework by which to make qualitative and quantitative points, not just using emotional appeals
  • Accountable - Being willing to answer for the outcomes resulting from their own choices, behaviors, and actions. Take ownership of situations that they're involved in
