Reporting to the Head of People Operations and partnering closely with company leadership, the Director of Talent is a critical new role focused on driving SendGrid’s success through its people. This person will serve as a member of the company’s director-level leadership team and be responsible for institutionalizing human capital excellence through the alignment of Talent Acquisition and Talent Development in a fast-paced, high growth environment. This person will wake up every day thinking about how to drive the most effective human capital programs that will help SendGrid achieve its strategic growth objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Live by and champion our cultural values of Happy, Hungry, Honest, and Humble
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and management to the Talent Acquisition and Talent Development teams; continuing the development and increasing the alignment across a talented group of Business Partners, HR Program Managers and Recruiters
  • Coach and partner with business leaders to ensure they have the support needed to navigate change management to achieve the company’s strategic business objectives
  • Demonstrate your exceptional talents at putting the people first, and being as clear and transparent as possible with strategic communications; helping others understand how people decisions get made
  • Monitor the pulse of the employees to ensure a high level of organizational health, development, recognition, engagement, and retention
  • Design and implement progressive new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements and increased effectiveness of our people
  • Mature a high performing talent acquisition program with a focus on strategy, attracting and hiring the best talent in the market, employment branding, workforce diversity, processes and metrics, and innovation
  • Mature a high performing talent development program with a focus on strategy, business partnership, organizational development, training, and employee success.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously with a bias for results and execution
  • Offer thought leadership internally and externally regarding organizational and people related strategies
  • Provide insightful data to guide decision making and offer proactive solutions
  • Solve problems and get to the root cause of any issue, no matter how complex, and design and quickly implement solutions that cut across multiple disciplines
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR or related field required; MBA preferred
  • Typically, 10-14 years of progressive experience across Talent Acquisition and Talent Development with at least 5 years of leadership
  • Technology industry experience required
  • Scale-up stage experience leading teams through high growth and change
  • Compensation and Total Rewards expertise
  • Public company experience is appreciated
  • Experience operating in a rapid, complex, and feedback-driven environment
  • Capable of being a strategic player in one breath and diving deep the next
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and end-to-end HR practices
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with top leadership
  • Exceptionally organized
  • Highly skilled cross-functional communicator
  • Goal-oriented, self-motivated and a stellar work ethic
