The mission of our Director of Student Finance Services (DSFS) is to:

Lead a team that builds an informative, supportive and efficient financial experience for students enrolling in further education, deploying diverse financial sources and coaching from federal and private financial aid, corporate tuition assistance, foundation scholarships, and student billing.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and develop two teams: Tuition Reimbursement and Student Funding and Student Billing and Collections
  • Operate a department that complies with all Title IV, and other regulations, laws and guidelines. Compliance with the laws and regulations that govern student finance is not optional.
  • Build processes and procedures for prospective students during the enrollment process to help them understand Federal financial aid programs, scholarship and other grant opportunities
  • Own the outcomes of the team’s conversations. Design programs that support extraordinary student experiences and motivate students to enroll and maintain enrollment
  • Establish productive partnerships with peers and executives across Guild
  • Understand tuition reimbursement policies for all employers and document best practices to assist Guild Business Development and Client Partnership teams
  • Manage complex and rapidly-changing projects. Partner to drive short- and long-term priorities for improvement across a variety of financial, data and reporting tools
  • Ensure student account accuracy in Salesforce and other billing management technology tools
  • Identify opportunities and take action to positively impact outcomes and drive continuous improvement in the student billing, financial aid, tuition reimbursement and accounting processes
  • Expand financial assistance resources available to our students

We hope you have:

  • Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in Financial Aid, Registrar, Business Office or Accounting is required; experience supervising a team in a similar high-volume, fast paced environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience implementing news systems (e.g. Campus View)
  • Ability to balance the trade-offs of a high intensity environment with strong relationships skills and the understanding that customer experience and satisfaction is a critical component of success
  • A data-driven mindset and the ability to use insights from qualitative conversations and quantitative metrics to build stronger relationships and achieve better results utilizing Salesforce, MS Excel, Google Sheets and other technology tools
  • A willingness and self-driven motivation to step outside your role and contribute to projects and initiatives in our fast-growing startup environment
  • Resilience, openness and an ability to positively respond and adapt to frequent change
  • A belief in our mission - this role is compensated on base pay, not incentive bonuses
  • A bias to action and sense of urgency as well as a persuasive ability to motivate action in others
