As Director, Data Engineering you will lead the team responsible for the data platform at the heart of our efforts to bring patients, doctors, hospitals and other stakeholders together to create a prime destination for health care needs. Our Provider Data-as-a -Service Team is responsible for operating the data platform that supports the ingestion, mastering, integration, management, enrichment and consumption of all data that supports Healthgrades.com. Healthgrades is transitioning data platforms from a Microsoft technology stack to a modern platform that runs on cloud infrastructure and leverages leading edge development frameworks and technologies (including open source). How You Will Contribute:

 

  • Lead and coach a team of amazing engineers tasked with delivering a scalable, performant data engineering ecosystem to internal and external clients
  • Craft a meaningful vision for the team and ensure achievement of immediate term goals through teamwork and high engineering standards
  • Facilitate the transition to the new architectural and technology foundation upon which Healthgrades next generation of data products will be built
  • Build a diverse team while fostering a collaborative, high performance environment
  • Manage the information architecture and data management functions
  • Continuously raise the bar and improve the quality of engineering work in an agile environment

About You:

  • You are a coach and an inspiring leader. You have extensive experience leading engineers, coaching leads and fostering teams during transitions
  • You empower people to do the best work of their careers
  • You craft a compelling long term vision and set goals to meet it
  • You have experience leading teams and building products that work at web scale
  • You are a compelling and clear communicator, able to represent your teammates' best work to clients with varying levels of technical fluency
  • You have significant experience contributing hands-on to products built within the Spark/Hadoop ecosystem
  • You are comfortable with several programming languages (Java, Python, Scala, R are a plus)
  • You have extensive expertise with a variety of database systems (Elastic Search, SOLR, Cassandra, Postgres, SQL, MySQL)
  • You are experienced with implementing data solutions on AWS infrastructure and have familiarity with container technologies (e.g. Docker)
  • You excel at delivering in an agile development environment
  • You have a strong background in data management capabilities including master data management, reference data management, metadata management
  • You possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
  • The ideal person will possess an advanced degree with a focus on distributed systems or machine learning
