We’re looking for a highly analytical, self-directed, and results-driven leader to help grow the eCommerce business by planning, launching, and growing new product categories.  An ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the eCommerce value chain and the ability to rapidly develop and deploy new product categories.  This includes working closely with the Director of eCommerce and cross-functional leadership teams to develop assortment plans, buying / replenishment plans, merchandising schedules, and go to market strategies.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Plan and launch a new product category every quarter
  • Drive growth in new categories by working in close collaboration with the Director of eCommerce, category managers, marketing, vendors, and industry experts to plan and execute strategic and tactical initiatives which attract new eCommerce buyers
  • Partner with Category Management, Acquisition Editors and eCommerce team to develop assortment plans and physical product strategy for new categories
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Merchandising to develop and manage the OTB for all new product categories
  • Manage and develop the new category buying and merchandising team to ensure that we are smartly managing and adjusting our product assortment to meet sales goals and customer demand
  • Deeply understand the needs of our current and potential customers through analysis of available data, market research, and interaction with key suppliers
  • Ensure depth and breadth of product in new categories in order to support sales goals and the facilitation of a wide variety of tests - merchandising, inventory, pricing, product offering, user experience, positioning, “packaging”, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a suite of analytical tools and processes to measure category performance (i.e. revenue, gross margin, inventory management, product assortment, etc)
 
 
Requirements/Experience:
 
  • 4+ years of hands-on retail or eCommerce, and / or 4+ years at a top-tier consulting firm
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Proven analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven decision making, with a preference given to candidates with a knowledge of SQL.
  • Ability to think creatively, structure ambiguous problems, and synthesize analyses to generate insights and actionable plans
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables
  • History (from startups or other experience) of accomplishing a lot, quickly, with limited resources.
  • Prefer a candidate whose resume indicates he/she has excelled amongst an elite peer group.
