Responsibilities

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for supporting operations of the high volume, mission critical DigitalGlobe Global Emerging and Tailored Products (ETP) production systems – Amazon Web Service (AWS).  As a key member of our team, the DevOps Engineer will work with Project Management, Geospatial Engineers, and other DevOps engineers to meet Sales deadlines and maintain a positive experience for our customers.  This role will also play a central part in supporting our system in AWS, and establishing a modernized build and deployment pipeline – two strategic initiatives that we expect to transform our organization.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support existing and create new custom workflows in production environments.
  • Deploy these workflows to our AWS production platform.
  • Help to enhance and configure our emerging, automated deployment pipeline.
  • Proactively analyze and contribute improvements to support new deployment processes.
  • Provide collaborative conduit between various technical and non-technical teams.
  • Work with Geospatial engineers to implement and improve upon their workflows.
  • Build effective monitoring, alerts, and metrics for production services.
  • Provide configuration management and automation for production workflow.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Linux system admin
  • At least 5 years’ experience in scripting using Bash, Perl or Python.
  • Familiar with core suite of AWS Services related to DevOps, such as: EC2, IAM, S3, ECS
  • Postgres or other RDBMS experience.
  • Strong communicator and a passion to work with others to achieve team goals.
  • Strong customer focus, business acumen and results orientation.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident.

 

Other Preferred Experience

  • General GIS, Imagery, and/or OGC services experience a plus.
  • Development and GIT experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile development process from build through deployment.
  • AWS Certified Associate (Solutions Architect, Sys Ops, Developer). If you do not already have one or more AWS certifications, we focus on achieving that during a DigitalGlobe first 100 days on the job.
