The Dev Ops Engineering team supports all of the major web components for Healthgrades.com and other customer-facing services including the management and provisioning of Amazon Web Services (AWS) instances, Linux administration, Solr data administration, and web product release support. As part of this fast paced team, you will implement the latest DevOps best practices and processes such as automation, continuous delivery and service monitoring all within a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.  
  • Build Amazon VPC solutions using Cloud Formation, NAT Gateways, Lambda, subnets, ASG, Load balancers, Cloudfront, S3 and RDS
  • Build Tomcat, Jetty, NTP, ELK stacks for centralized logging
  • Performance monitoring and remediation using Cloudwatch, Logsene, Nagios, Sematext, and tools like SAR
  • Implement the latest Dev Ops practices and processes, such as automation, continuous deliver and service monitoring
  • Advising and assisting across teams to improve site uptime, reduce service incidents and outages, and accelerate software deployments.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Provide regular after hours support for critical systems 
  • Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of Dev Ops experience in a production software environment.
  • Strong understanding of Windows, web servers and databases, including deployment onto Amazon AWS
  • Strong Knowledge of .Net, Visual Studio and Microsoft TFS (Team Foundation Server)
  • Strong understanding of scripting and configuration as code using GIT.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing software automation for deployment and operation.
  • Strong knowledge of data center networking (including load balancers, EIP, ACL and Security).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or Physics, or equivalent experience
  • Desirable Experience:

    • Administration of Java web applications running on Tomcat or Jetty
    • Strong understanding of Amazon Web Services
    • Varnish or other HTTP accelerators and caches

    Please Note: There are sometimes weekly on-call rotations with this position, and issues that occur during the night will need to be handled as necessary.
