In this role you will:

  • Creatively solve hard problems.
  • Critique, mentor and guide others.
  • Design our visual systems.
  • Work closely with Product and Marketing to improve our website and customer acquisition.
  • Work directly with designers, marketers, product managers and engineers to design and build concepts for web and mobile websites.
  • Visual design, brand strategy, extensive experimentation and funnel development.
  • Measure everything and have something to show for your work.
  • Design for consistency, maintainability and usability.
  • Prototype your ideas and designs in an iterative environment.
  • Watch real customers use your designs.
  • Design multiple concepts to address design challenges or business needs.
  • Design for core acquisition flows and experiences.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions within the rest of the product organization.

About You:

You’re passionate about people and design. You want small business owners focused on growing their business, not seeking financing.

  • Experienced (7+ years) in visual design, art direction, creative direction, interaction design, branding, front-end development or interface design.
  • Previous leadership or management experience.
  • Previous experience with design consulting, advertising, brand design or marketing communication.
  • Previous experience with funnel design, a/b testing and customer acquisition.
  • Passionate about hands-on research and talking with people in person and remotely.
  • Well versed in universal design principles.
  • Experienced with design software of your preference.
  • Have working knowledge of HTML, CSS.
  • Obsessed with delivering robust solutions to the market quickly, but without sacrificing quality.
  • Exceptional at collaboration, project management, writing, documentation and communication.
  • Usability advocate who is opposed to unnecessary complexity.
  • You’ve designed your own iconography.

Bonus Points:

  • Previous experience designing for small business or financial services.
  • A degree in fine arts, marketing, human computer interaction, computer science, or interaction design.
  • Experience working with SCRUM in an agile environment.
  • Familiar with internet memes, animated gifs, video games and hubot (allthethings).
  • You’re obsessed with grid systems.
