The EO Analytics and Data Science team is embedded within the Return Path Email Optimization business unit and strives to develop solutions and product features that address the current and future needs of Return Path’s Email Optimization clients. The Data Scientist will collaborate with fellow data scientists, engineering teams, product design and product management in order to understand the motivating business requirements for product solutions and features, implement the features in production and maintain the quality of the features over time. The Return Path Network is a growing collection of data sources providing insight into the behavior of both email senders and recipients. The Data Scientist will use Return Path’s varied data and machine learning techniques to develop new data features and product solutions.

• Leverage data from billions of emails to build machine learning driven features and client solutions that are directly integrated into the product.
• Optimize analytical solutions that scale to hundreds of millions of emails each day.
• Work closely with engineering and product teams to rapidly prototype and evaluate potential solutions.
• Set up appropriate framework to ensure client solutions and features are properly monitored, maintained and re-trained.
• Gather requirements from a diverse set of stakeholders and propose solutions to address specific clients problems.
• Document, share and present the methodology, code and business use cases for newly developed product features and solutions.
• Define metrics to quantify and track the short and long term success of product features.
• Mentor and train aspiring Data Scientists and junior team members.
• Stay up to date in the fields of data science, machine learning and email technology.

• MS in computer science, statistics, math or other relevant field and 2+ years of experience with quantitative analysis or BA and 3+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated success building large-scale machine learning solutions and overall comfort with up-to-date supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
• Proficiency with at least one general purpose programming language such as Python or Scala.
• Comfort analyzing and visualizing large datasets with a data analysis language such as Python or R.
• Experience with natural language processing and ability to effectively integrate text into predictive models.
• Familiarity with distributed computing and distributed file systems, such as Hadoop (Hive in particular) or Spark.
• Strong project management skills, including: gathering requirements, managing stakeholders, creating documentation and presenting results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
