Guild’s engineering, product and strategy teams are looking to bring on a Data and Analytics Engineer who will work across teams to create the next generation of our data products. We're mission and values driven, venture-backed and changing the statistics in higher education and workforce development in the US by creating a new category - education as a strategic benefit paired with coaching for life and work. The Data and Analytics Engineer will play a leadership role as we build data solutions to enable data-driven business decisions that contribute to optimization and growth.

If you join Guild’s team as our Data and Analytics Engineer, you will:

  • Evolve our data products now and in the future by contributing to our backend data architecture
  • Consult across Guild teams providing analytical expertise to understand questions at the core of our business and provide insights and solutions that result in collective success
  • Bring expertise in technologies such as Redshift, Python, SQL so that you can prepare and perform deep data analysis and tailor recommendations effectively
  • Build, maintain, and share responsibility for our business intelligence and data warehousing infrastructure
  • Enhance and grow our existing data pipeline infrastructure
  • Communicate effectively with teams across the business to present data, creating data visualizations and simple, concise representations that work for both nontechnical and technical audiences
  • Care deeply about data quality as a basis for sound decision-making as well as lead internal initiatives to ensure our data is clean, accurate and secure
  • Translate business requirements into usable, scalable data models

We’ll prioritize the following experience and attributes as we evaluate candidates throughout the hiring process:

  • High proficiency with SQL and relational and/or document data stores
  • Experience in modern programming languages (Python, Java/Scala, Ruby)
  • Have set up, used and managed a BI tool such as Looker, Tableau, Kibana, Chart.io, etc.
  • Have utilized RESTful APIs to gather additional data or used to integrate data
  • Basic experience in statistical analysis, text processing and machine learning
  • AWS development and operations experience (Amazon Redshift, RDS, EC2, EMR, S3, data pipelines, etc.)
  • Basic experience with big data technologies (Spark, Kafka, elasticsearch, redis, etc.)
  • Great at educating business stakeholders, product managers, analysts, and other engineers about how best to use our systems to answer hard business questions and make better decisions using data
  • You are a strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and building exceptional data visualizations to support, is no problem for you.
