Job Summary


The Consulting System Engineer is a pre-sales customer facing role. In combination with a Regional Sales Representative teams, the CSE will support all technical related efforts to maximize NetApp HCI sales, opportunity pipeline, revenue, brand awareness, and customer satisfaction. 

Position reports to the Sr. Manager, Global HCI GTM 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • . Support Company sales, channel and business development efforts 
  • . Train Channel Partners in the deployment of NetApp HCI technologies. 
  • · Provide direct and remote facing pre sales technical support & services in order to maximize NetApp revenue and customer growth. 

  • Activities to be included but not limited to: 

    • . product presentations and demonstrations 
    • . on-site product installation and configuration as well as Proof of Concept installation, and . guidance either alone or with approved channel partners 
    • . solution architecting and design for virtualized environments 
    • . education and knowledge transfer to customers, channels and partners in order to maximize . user experience and value expand the value proposition of NetApp HCI technology 
    • . Support business development and field marketing activities to maximize Company’s revenue and brand building objectives. 
    • . Provide feedback from all sources (customers, channel partners, technical partners, etc.) to . Company management in order to improve product quality, features, competitiveness and overall customer and partner experience. 
    • . As required, create and publish technical information, best practices, methodologies, . competitive matrices, etc. in order to continuously improve Company’s field sales effectiveness as well as customer and partner satisfaction. 
    • . As required, augment corporate assets in the testing of Company products with and without third party hardware and software components in order to derive solution bench marking and performance metrics, expand Company’s ecosystem and derive “best of breed” offerings. 
      Minimum of 10 years of pre-sales customer facing engineering experience, ideally this experience is largely within the Mid to Large Enterprise customer space. 

      Successful experience operating in both large and emerging company environments 

      Extensive experience with common virtualization technologies in regards to design, deployment, implementation, and supporting of highly virtualized customer or end user environments. 
Successful track record of reseller channel recruitment, training/enablement and management.

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • · Ability to work with limited supervision and direction. 
  • · VMware VCP Certification 
  • · Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • · Excellent communication and presentation skills; strong verbal, written, and listening and abilities 
  • · Strong subject matter technical expertise in: 
  • o IT storage – DAS/SAN/NAS 
  • o Server Virtualization – VMware. HyperV & KVM 
  • o Desktop Virtualization – VMware, Citrix 
  • o Orchestration and Automation: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt 
  • o Storage Networking –iSCSI, NFS, CIFs, FC 
  • o Networking configuration related to storage and virtualization 
  • · General knowledge of major IT data center operations, applications, work flows, architectures and trends 
  • · Ability to travel, this is a “field based” role with the majority of travel being within a designated “home” sales region/territory. Travel outside of the “home region” will be required from time to time in support of Company corporate objectives. 

DESIRABLE SKILLS: 

1. Knowledge of Emerging Next Generation Data Center Technologies (KVM, Kubernettes, Docker/Containers, Software Defined Technologies) 
2. VMware VCAP or VCDX Certification Preferred 
3. Hands on deployment or deliverable experience with major vendor or channel partner.
