Component Engineer I
Summary:
The Component Engineer I (or Associate Engineer) will work as a member of Arrow Electronics Digital Engineering team and be responsible for helping Arrow customers solve varying board design and production challenges. The ideal candidate will be capable of overseeing a product from concept stage to full PCB assembly through collaborative interaction with Arrow Engineering and customer’s research and development teams, Arrow contract manufacturing and fabrication services.
Responsibilities:
- Creating assembly drawings and managing customer BOMs
- Preparing layouts and component placement based on design rules
- Working with PCB manufacturing and engineering to develop/revise PCB processes
- Assessing existing product designs, recommend possible improvement areas
- Reviewing product BOM cost analysis for cost reduction recommendations
- Researching and recommending components based on product design specifications
- Designing multi-layer PCBs with medium to high density, high pin count fine pitch components
- CAD Library design and management experience
- Mechanical design integration experience is a plus
Requirements:
- Minimum of Associate 2-year technical degree
- 3+ years industry experience in printed circuit board (PCB) schematic capture/layout and assembly
- Working knowledge of any of the following design tools: Cadence PCB Solutions (OrCAD Capture, OrCAD PCB Designer, Library Builder, DFM Checker, Sigrity ERC), Altium (Designer, PCBWorks, Circuit Maker, Vault, CircuitStudio) or Eagle Schematic/Layout Editor.
Additional Requirements:
Requires an individual that will take the initiative to quickly gain product knowledge and be able to apply that knowledge with minimal direction. Be able to gain a quick understanding of documentation structure and applicable processes. Demonstrate basic knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes. Self-motivated, team oriented individual who can work independently and can multiplex several tasks. Maintain focus on project schedules and follow through to meet them.
