What (10-year Vision)

All Their Kids in Colorado Earn College Choice:

  • Every student in Colorado will have the ability to access their program (if they qualify)
  • Every graduate of the program will be able to choose which college they’d like to attend, with no financial or admissions obstacles

How (Service)

The Minds Matter programming model includes the following at zero-cost for all students:

  • Intensive mentorship (with each student getting 2 or 3 Mentors for three years),
  • Rigorous after-school college-readiness programming (covering leadership, writing, communication, and college/career prep),
  • Attendance at pre-collegiate summer programs (after 10th and 11th grades).

Minds Matter of Denver [MMD] has graduated nearly 100 students in its 13 years, with 100% success in helping every single graduate earn acceptance to college with scholarships.

 

Role

Why (Your Mission)

The Chief Development Officer will quickly learn the development system and build relationships, prospecting new corporate and foundation partners, along with joining the leadership team in creating a long-term financial plan to achieve their 10-year vision and meet interim goals.

What (Your Outcomes)

Grow from $450k in FY17 to $1.5MM in Yearly Revenue by June 2020 by: Establishing new, and deepening existing, relationships with the following:     

+     Local and regional corporations 

+     Individual and family philanthropists

+     Select foundations

Through channels that include:

+     Managing events

+     Pursuing in-person solicitation and cultivation

+     Executing annual appeals

+     Overseeing grant / proposal writing

+     Managing inbound and outbound marketing

 

Diversify revenue mix from 70% Events | 20% Grants/Corporate | 10% Individual/Major by June 2019

(ideally to equal weighting for each element)

 Positively influence, guide, and contribute to the strategic growth of the organization by:

+     Serving as a member of our Leadership Team, providing input and insight for how the organization will meet its ambitious growth, revenue, and mentee success goals.

+     Becoming and staying proficient in explaining the core elements and unique impact of our program model

+     Supporting the development of revenue projections for our Long-Range Financial Plan

Time commitment: Whatever it takes, but full-time employment. We anticipate this involving 40-60 hours/week, with flexibility required to meet after-work and weekend events, and managing volunteers who work full-time elsewhere.

Salary range: An aggressive total compensation plan including an above market base salary, with a significant bonus opportunity.
