The Chief Financial Officer will lead the company's finance organization, develop and implement financial and operational plans to drive growth, and extend finance based decision-making throughout the company. The CFO will be responsible for all finance activities including accounting, forecasting, budgeting, internal control, financial systems, audit, reporting, treasury, insurance, and tax. In addition, the position is responsible for HR and payroll operations.

The ideal candidate will be an operationally oriented strategic thinker who has worked for high growth technology companies, ideally in the telecommunications SaaS space. The candidate should have experience with tax and GAAP accounting standards. The candidate should be a player/coach with a "roll-up-your-sleeves" style who is excited to grow a finance team within a rapidly growing company.

Based in Boulder, Colorado, the CFO will report to the CEO and be a key member of the Executive Team.

What you will do at Connect First:

  • Work with CEO and senior management to develop and implement strategic business plans and operating initiatives.
  • Oversee and manage all finance activities including accounting, forecasting, planning, budgeting, internal control, financial systems, audit, reporting, treasury, and insurance. Telecommunications, state & use taxes, and various FCC compliance issues are a component of this.
  • Determine the optimal capital structure for the company including debt and equity options to support growth and potential future acquisitions; oversee balance sheet management.
  • Oversee and optimize financial reporting to management and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and to inform decision making throughout the company.
  • Define standards, policies, procedures, measures, and organizational enhancements to meet company goals for finance. Includes managing collection and credit activities.
  • Manage the company’s financial performance by developing accurate forecasts/projections and monitor ongoing performance against plan. Ability to create various modeling paths for forecasting and moving dynamically will be critical.
  • Develop new and improve existing business processes to assess enterprise-wide financial effectiveness for greater transparency, more accurate reporting, and better identification of cost saving opportunities.
  • Assist in creating optimal sales and pricing strategy, including sales team growth plans, sales compensation, and contracting process and procedures.
  • Implement procedures and financial systems necessary to maintain proper records, perform financial analysis, to afford adequate accounting controls, and to generate financial reports.
  • Serve as the company’s financial link to and manage relationships with potential investors, analysts, outside auditors, banks, law firms, and other groups requesting financial information. Work on potential transactions including capital raises, debt, major partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  • Manages HR contractor who is responsible for payroll, insurance benefits, and 401(k).

Desired qualifications and skills:

  • A minimum of 15 years of financial and management experience with an excellent track record of achievement in high growth technology or telecom companies, ideally in the Enterprise SaaS space.
  • Operationally oriented, strategic thinker, who can play a key role in driving the strategic direction of the company.
  • Strong leadership skills marked by collaborative team orientation with the ability to motivate team members at all levels to cultivate a dynamic and highly productive work environment.
  • Experience taking a company through multiple phases of its lifecycle and building teams within rapidly growing companies.
  • Skilled Excel user, experience with Intacct a plus (we are transitioning out of QuickBooks)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including knowledge of SaaS accounting standards.
  • CPA or MBA is desirable.
