Role Purpose 

The Category Editor for Craftsy’s nascent Content & Commerce vertical, Kids, will own the development of innovative and varied video formats to inspire, educate, entertain and activate a new audience: creative kids aged 6-12 and their crafty parents! Flexing between distribution channels from linear TV to OTT, YouTube to SVOD, the Category Editor for Kids will research, concept, write, and edit both free and paid content offerings, collaborating with Craftsy’s internal Production, eCommerce, and Marketing teams as well as outside experts and professional talent in the process. 

Responsibilities 

• Know the kids’ media landscape in your bones so as to influence strategy, provide category expertise and design compelling videos 
• Manage the full arc of content creation from acquisition through post-production across all distribution channels 
• Partner with the Kids Buyer and broader eCommerce team to ensure powerful synergy between physical offerings and video content 
• Collaborate with the Director of Programming and Production team to concept and greenlight fresh shows, classes or video series 
• Acquire and engage subject matter experts across crafting categories to support content development and deliver classes to camera 
• Design creative grids and write episode scripts in partnership with the Production Team and show talent

Basic Qualifications 

College degree 
4+ years of experience in kids’ education (e.g. teaching, curriculum design, programming etc.) 
3+ years of experience in kids’ television writing (or equivalent, i.e. film, digital video, etc.) 
Demonstrated editorial expertise in an elite online environment 
Stellar communication skills, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships 
Desire to work in a fast-moving environment that requires flexibility, collaboration and creativity
