Job Summary: 


NetApp is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our SolidFire Automation Infrastructure team. The NetApp/SolidFire product is a rapidly growing, enterprise class data storage product with an all-SSD solution specifically designed for large-scale, public and private cloud deployments. NetApp/SolidFire is delivering high availability, high performance, fault tolerant software which runs concurrently on up to 100 nodes. This is a great opportunity to work on a high-powered team delivering a highly available automation environment to facilitate product development and test. 

We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and provide technical direction to a team of 10+ talented automation engineers. As an Engineering Manager, you must be a proven technical leader who can build, lead, and motivate software teams. You will partner with development and test teams on gathering requirements to develop and support automation infrastructure. You will have a continuous improvement mentality and always be on the lookout for ways to make things better across the company and within your own scope of responsibility.
Requirements: 

- Identify full project scope and set aggressive development milestones and deadlines for the team. 
- Participate and lead in the design and development of long-range planning for new requirements. 
- Build and promote a work environment that is highly collaborative and team-centric. 
- Evolve coding practices related to quality, architecture, and documentation standards. 
- Set performance expectations for individual employees and provide feedback toward their success. 
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. 
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills are required. 
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined metrics requirements. 
- Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices. 
- Creative approach to problem solving. 

Management: 

- This position is responsible for managing many tasks within a large group or department. 
- The focus of this role is on business and its implication. 
- The potential impact of decisions made by this individual will be mostly operational with some financial. 
- This individual will apply attained experience and knowledge to address issues that are diverse in scope, and resolve problems through short- and mid-term planning. 

Interaction: 

- This individual must work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within ProdOps as well as the technical team on assigned projects. There will be communication with employees in other functions as required, specifically cross-functionally with DevOps/Dev/SET groups. 
- Limited management direction is provided on new projects or assignments as well as review of activities and priorities. 
- To be successful, this individual must demonstrate favorable results through coaching, influencing, and organizing others as well as technical competence and persistence. 
- Guiding the team on getting the most of self-organization. 
- Ensure and foster a collaborative culture within the organization.

Education & Experience: 

- 5+ years experience leading teams developing enterprise products in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. 
- Proven experience leading teams through a software development life cycle with quality-focused metrics. 
- Strong track record of hiring, growing and nurturing cohesive, high performing teams. 
- Effective multi-tasker, working multiple projects and initiatives in parallel. 
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
