Instructors at Galvanize don’t just teach: they guide. Not just the hard skills – they dig into personality types, habits, and learning styles. And they don’t just talk the talk: instructors lead by example and immerse students in the agile development process from day one. In addition to giving lectures and white-boarding, instructors lead inquiry, pair program and provide ongoing student feedback. Galvanize is looking for instructors that are interested in teaching the fundamentals of software engineering and full-stack web development using Ruby and Rails and Javascript. We offer an intensive, 24-week web development courses that focus on an understanding of how the web works and how to tackle technical challenges. Our full stack curriculum includes Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, Javascript, CSS3, HTML5, Responsive Design, PostgreSQL, APIs, Version Control, and Test Driven Development - but our main focus is full-stack development with Ruby on Rails. We are seeking instructors to spearhead new Full Stack Web Development classes in San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins and help train a new instructional team on the ground.

AS A FULL STACK ASSOCIATE INSTRUCTOR AT GALVANIZE, YOU WILL:
    • Support students during class project work and pairing as necessary
    • Identify activities to support and enrich existing Galvanize curriculum
    • Develop internal tools to support the Galvanize program
    • Assist in student assessments and the placements process
    • Provide feedback to teaching teamCoordinate program logistics (guest speakers, etc)
EXPECTED EXPERIENCE:
    • Has mid-level Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and Javascript knowledge and professional experience working with agile web development teams
    • Thrives in a continuous feedback environment and welcomes feedback from students and other instructors
    • Previous background in teaching and/or mentoring aspiring developers – or a deep interest in giving it a try.
    • Background in pair programming and TDD.
