We are hiring an Associate Buyer for the team to help us optimize and grow our eCommerce business.
 
The Associate Buyer will play a critical role in shaping our product assortments for both private label and branded product, working efficiently and creatively with internal teammates to achieve top-line goals.

 What you can expect to learn and contribute: 
  • Develop a compelling product assortment for your category of ownership that is aligned with achieving financial goals and strategic objectives

  • Proactively identify opportunities in the assortment for volume and new buyer growth based on historical performance, market trends, opportunistic volume buys and the broader competitive landscape

  • Build buy plans for new collections and forecast initial orders by utilizing historical sales data to accurately identify buy quantities that will maximize opportunities and minimize risk

  • Use thoughtful data analysis to measure product performance over time and apply key learnings to assortment and buying strategies

  • Conduct scenario-based and ad hoc analysis focused on identifying business risks and opportunities and recommending course of action to reach goals and optimize performance

  • Assist in the development and implementation of reporting tools to allow for continuous improvements in assessing and planning the business

  • Participate in Consumer Insights for category to better understand consumer and apply key learnings to assortment offering and merchandising strategy

  • Build strong relationships with product suppliers and effectively communicate with these partners on assortment plans, pricing and shipping

  • Develop expertise around key product selling points and differentiators and effectively communicate such features to merchandising and marketing teams

  • Oversee product merchandising strategy with focus on optimizing consumer experience, driving sell page conversion and maximizing revenue

  • Become a go-to resource in the company for designated eCommerce product category

What we’re looking for from top candidates:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Buying, Merchandising, Business or related field

  • 4+ years experience in Buying, Planning or Merchandising

  • Experience building and optimizing assortment planning and buy plan tools

  • Proven analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven decision making

  • Proficiency managing large amounts of data in Microsoft Excel (e.g. vlookups, pivot tables, etc)

  • A clear understanding of financial measurements (sales, gross margin, measures of inventory productivity) and how to impact them

  • Forecasting and inventory management experience with proven ability to maximize opportunities and mitigate risk

  • Ability to work autonomously, taking initial direction and effectively executing against multiple simultaneous activities to achieve desired outcomes

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels as well as external partners

  • A flexible attitude when confronting with unexpected obstacles in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables with strong organization skills and attention to detail

  • Personal or professional experience with knitting, crochet, quilting or sewing is highly desirable, but not a requirement
