Assistant Buyer
Working closely with the category buyer to develop and execute against the product assortment strategy
Setting up, managing, and maintaining high volume sku count to ensure data integrity for order management and reporting
Building strong relationships with product suppliers and effectively communicating with these partners on assortment plans, pricing and shipping
Issuing purchase orders and negotiating/confirming order quantities and delivery dates with key suppliers
Assisting the Supply Chain and Accounts Payable teams with inventory management and receipt reconciliation on purchase orders
Contributing to driving and executing against product merchandising strategy with focus on optimizing consumer experience, driving sell page conversion and maximizing revenue (execute supplies and project kit merchandising, build collection feature galleries)
Partnering with the Creative team (i.e. designers and photographers) to provide excellent product representation with elevated copy and product images
Developing expertise around key product selling points and differentiators and effectively communicating such features to merchandising and marketing teams
Learning and understanding product assortment and marketing strategy in order to plan and execute merchandising campaigns
Showing enthusiasm for and the ability to recommend action on opportunities for marketing, category, and product page enhancements
Investigating and responding to any product specific customer service inquiries
Analyzing consumer insights, customer service issues, sales data and market trends to contribute to the development of a consumer-centric assortment plan
Here's what we're looking for in top candidates:
Bachelor’s Degree in Buying, Merchandising, Business or a related field
2+ years experience in Buying, Planning or Merchandising
Proven analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven decision making
Proficiency managing large amounts of data in Microsoft Excel (e.g. vlookups, pivot tables, etc)
A clear understanding of financial measurements (sales, gross margin, measures of inventory productivity) and how to impact them
Clear and effective written and verbal communication, as well as ability to effectively communicate product attributes to a broad consumer base
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables with strong organization skills and attention to detail
Prefer a candidate whose resume indicates he/she has excelled amongst an elite peer group
Prior eCommerce experience is highly desirable
A proactive, resourceful approach to deliver results in a fast-paced business
Ability to work with cross-functional teams
