At Guild, we believe the most strategic investment employers can make is offering education as a benefit to employees. As we work to become the industry leader in tuition assistance and online education for employee students across the country, we also aspire to evolve the definition of online learning and transform students’ experience in a virtual world - both in the classroom and with their student success coaches at Guild. Our Academic Product and Operations Manager will play a critical role in evolving our product and the operations behind the scenes as we work together to deliver our mission and grow our business.

We’re excited to learn more about you. If you think this is the next role for you, please submit a resume and responses to the application questions to demonstrate how your experience and expertise will enable you to effectively accomplish the objectives listed below.

The day-to-day experience will vary as life at a Series A startup does, but here’s an overview of how we anticipate you will spend your time here as our Academic Product & Operations Manager in the next few months:

  • Seek to deeply understand and truly empathize with our students’ experience by bringing your expertise in user and market research along with an interest in online and higher education - and using this data to drive product & operations decisions
  • Strategically evaluate and prioritize decisions and actions - you’ll create matrices to assess tools (build, buy, or partner!) and create processes and roadmaps to focus and align the team on the most important milestones and actions
  • Elevate our POV and execution around instructional design and delivery - you can even seize the opportunity to build and teach a course yourself for one of our Guild programs
  • Dig in and improve our student operations strategy and tactics by optimizing the student course schedule, refining the process to onboard students, and enhancing our use of data and insights to test and make smart decisions
  • Push our view on online content and learning forward internally, through strong relationships and effective collaboration, and externally, by engaging with employers to reduce pain points and provide customized content and solutions

We’ll prioritize the following experience and attributes as we evaluate candidates throughout the hiring process:

  • Passion for higher education and our mission - Guild is pioneering a new path for education as a benefit in a complicated and regulated space - success means quickly learning the landscape and effectively adapting your expertise
  • Experience in a product management or strategic consulting role that uses analytical approaches and frameworks to understand users, build roadmaps, A/B test and measure results in collaboration with business and engineering colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to lean into data and focus on the user’s experience - comfort with approaches like focus groups, surveys, etc.
  • Experience in a startup or similar environment where there is frequent change, high pressure and a need to demonstrate and act with a sense of urgency
  • Expertise and a pattern of progression or thought leadership in higher education, workforce development, online education, or soft skill development
  • Experience with our demographic of students (high school, higher education, adults)
  • Professional and/or academic experience in instructional design or teaching

Guild Education believes that a diverse and inclusive team will contribute toward our ability to achieve our mission and will dedicate intentional effort to building a team that reflects that belief.
