About Guild Education:

The pathway to a stable career is changing in the U.S. & many young adults are struggling to navigate that path. We believe that everyone - not just the fortunate few - deserve a great education to kickstart their working lives.

For the 30+ million working young adults who’ve yet to finish college, finding a path back to school is expensive and overwhelming. Moreover, it’s often entirely unrelated to their current work, the next step in their career, and their long term goals.

Guild is paving a new path -- providing great job training and degree programs for working adults, and a community to support and advise them every step of the way. We offer affordable education opportunities and work directly with top American employers to build modern and relevant programs. In partnership with top American universities, we also provide college degree completion programs for our students.

Guild’s academic products reflect our students’ needs - whether that be a course focused on business English proficiency, GED preparation or management trainings. Many of these academic products provide an onramp for our students into a college degree.

As our Academic Product Operations Manager, you own flawless execution and innovation of the academic experience we develop internally at Guild. You constantly think about the needs of our students. On any given day, you may conduct user research, prototype a new student process, or gain insight from current students and instructors for future iterations of a given course.

As Academic Product Operations Manager, you will:

  • Own the entire operational process for Guild programs, end to end, from how a student signs up for a course to what they receive when they complete a program or class
  • Partner daily with academic product and instructional team to develop an innovative, engaging, and high quality experience for our students and partners
  • Develop new operational processes, and improve current processes, to simplify the student process to engage, enroll and complete courses.
  • Conduct user research with students and employers, and research products, tools and content to address identified student and operational needs Champion and build out future processes and experiences based on your research
  • Evaluate business processes and operational and/or financial effectiveness at the course and program level.
  • Own P&L for Guild’s Academic Product offerings , including developing, monitoring, analyzing, forecasting and reporting on student and business outcomes

You are a great candidate for this role if:

  • You are passionate about education as a means of social mobility.
  • You believe that people learn best in context and have experience designing practical, real world applications of educational content.
  • Your reputation precedes you. You demonstrate a proven track record of success among a cohort of talented peers.
  • You can demonstrate your creative, practical operation and/or curriculum design through lesson plans, products, promotions, and professional and/or academic references.
  • You are committed to learning. You seek continual improvement of your professional abilities.

We hope you have:

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust with others quickly, both amongst your team and with prospective students and partners
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with a strong Excel background
  • Strong computer, oral, and written communication skills
  • Evidence of your ability to roll up your sleeves, particularly in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • A love of goal-setting, as you will be on a high-performing, metrics-driven team
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years experience in Operations, Project Management, or related field
  • Instructional design or prior teaching experience is a plus

Why us?

  • We’re a mission-driven company with a proven business model that addresses a massive problem and market opportunity. It’s our goal to to support as many Guild members as possible, and change the world along the way
  • We offer a competitive salary and benefits package
  • We’ve recently closed our $8.5M Series A round, and we’re eager to bring new members to our team who can help us keep up with our growth
  • We’re a rapidly growing team with 40+ years of combined experience at three different ed tech companies, guided by leading investors including Redpoint Ventures, Social Capital, Harrison Metal, and Cowboy Ventures
  • We’re disciples of the design thinking process with experience building businesses at Stanford’s Design School, and we love sharing the methodology
  • Our co-founders have collaborated together for 10+ years, including two past ventures in education technology and higher ed, and are committed to building a community and company where we all love to work
  • Unlimited growth potential - we’re looking to grow smart, talented people with our company

What you won’t get from Guild:

  • Micro-management or hourly directions. We want people who thrive when given ownership and autonomy to take initiative and run with projects. That said, we’ll support you and give you feedback regularly
  • Reverence for the status quo. We believe what’s out there today for our students doesn’t cut it, plus we love change and believe it’s our job to function as a learning organization. That means near-constant evolution, reflection and change
  • A 9-5 mentality. We believe in what we’re trying to accomplish and work hard to try to do it. This doesn’t mean putting in face time. It does mean working until the job is done
  • Corporate pace or precision. At Guild, done is better than perfect. If you like having certainty about your plans or dislike quick turnaround times, we’re not a great fit
  • Corporate perks. We’re scrappy and place our students first above all else. Everyone who works with us full time is an equity owner, and we want you to love coming to work but that unfortunately won’t include a $500 chair or an on-tap kombucha bar ;-)
