[BOULDER] - Introduction to Docker
You’ve probably heard about Docker, and you’ve probably even had some friends talk about Docker. Now, you’re wondering what is this whole Docker thing about? How can I use it?
This intro to Docker class will briefly cover:
• What is Docker
• How do I use Docker
What is Docker
We’ll go over what Docker is and what it isn’t. How it differs from Virtual Machines. What’s the difference between a container and an image?
How do I use docker
We’ll cover how to install Docker (and boot2docker) and some basic Docker commands
What is a Dockerfile
We’ll go over what a Dockerfile is, how to create one.
We’ll cover what Dockerhub is, and how to use it to share and distribute your docker images
We’ll cover what Docker-Compose is, and how you can use it for local development.
After this workshop, you should have enough knowledge to get started using Docker. Have some familiarity with using Docker, and hopefully get you thinking about all the possibilities with Docker.
This workshop will be taught by Nick Lang, Senior Developer at Docker.
