Built in Denver caught up with Kevin Mackay, executive business development consultant at Digabit, to know what to look out for during Digabit's presentation at BDNT tonight.

What does Digabit do?

Digabit is re-inventing the online aftermarket experience for manufactures. Consumers are used to searching for information and ordering items online in a very graphical way. It is 2013: printed manuals and PDFs on CDs can be out dated soon after they are sent. This can lead to a tedious process for ordering parts and finding information when equipment is down and time is critical.

We have a vision for all manufactures to offer the same tools that are benefiting online retailers in a way that makes sense for them and their customers.

When was Digabit started?

In 2008, Alan Sage, the founder of Digabit, was working with a large manufacture of underground mining equipment. They were having trouble managing service content in a secured format over the web. This content need to be delivered based on specific users. They had a lot of information that needed to be delivered in an intuitive way over the web. Users are Google-ing information, finding videos online, ordering items online. Why shouldn’t a manufacture offer the same capabilities to their internal staff and customers? Hence, Documoto, a system that allows documentation in several languages, was created and Digabit was formed.

What has the Digabit team been pumped up about lately?

We reached over $1,000,000 in annual sales last year and have developed our 3D parts catalog prototype in partnership with 3D software company SolidWorks.
