Sphero: Engineering BB-8™ and Milk Stouts

There are very few startups that actually make one want to relive their childhood, but Sphero makes me want to go way back.  The highest tech toy I can remember begging Santa to bring me was Teddy Ruxpin.  Beside Mark Wahlberg, who wouldn’t want a talking teddy bear? Sadly, by today’s standards Teddy Ruxpin is barely considered revolutionary. When it comes to Sphero, they are developing toys that are better than one could ever dream of.  Sphero’s BB-8™ is actually cooler than the on-screen version we saw in Star Wars:  Force Awakens.

This year, Sphero will be making their second appearance at Colorado Startup Brews with their “Sphero Milk Stout”.  Milk stout, also known as ”Sweet Stout” takes its name from the addition of Lactose Sugar in a Stout.  Back in the old days, this beer style was considered the perfect drink for nursing mothers in England.

You can thank Sphero resident brewers Corey Earwood, Gus Armayo, and Doug Webster for creating this year’s entry to Colorado Startup Brews.  This trio of engineers/brewers has been brewing for quite some time and their experience comes through in their beers.  Last year they produced a flawless version of Deschutes Chainbreaker White IPA.  It is safe to say that anyone who visits them at their booth will not be disappointed.  Besides, who wouldn’t want to play with all their cool toys?
