Boulder-based SendGrid announced its partnership with Google App Engine (GAE) yesterday: as the first non-native email platform available on the GAE platform, about 300,000 GAE developers now have ability to easily integrate with SendGrid to send transactional email.

This is the first time SendGrid has partnered with Google, although SendGrid has existing Platform as a Service (PaaS) partnerships with other cloud platforms like Heroku, Windows Azure and HP Cloud Services, SendGrid’s Director of Business Development Laurence Trifon, said.

“Joining the Google Cloud Platform partner program is a great opportunity for SendGrid,” SendGrid’s Director of Business Development Laurence Trifon said. “Google App Engine is one of the most established PaaS offerings in the market. We’re excited for the opportunity to work with the App Engine developer community.”

The partnership with Google was originally announced by SendGrid’s Developer Communications Director Adam DuVander on Google’s Cloud Platform Blog in a post that demoed how to integrate SendGrid into Google App Engine.

SendGrid has another big announcement in the works for next quarter, too: the launch of the Loader.io application, a load-testing application that was developed by SendGrid’s internal R&D department, SendGrid Labs. SendGrid’s Director of Product Marketing Jesse McCabe said Loader.io, which is currently in beta, will allow developers to stress test their web applications and APIs with up to 50,000 concurrent connections. In addition to Loader.io, SendGrid also has a number of other product related announcements that it will be making over the next few months.

These new products services and partnerships are proof that SendGrid is ever-evolving and certainly has done so since being founded in 2009 after the team graduated from TechStars Boulder; now, SendGrid estimates that it sends 8 billion emails every month and is located in Boulder, Denver, Orange County, London and Frankfurt.
