Ping Identity, announced its latest acquisition of accells technologies, a pioneer in context-based mobile authentication. Accells technology, which was headquartered in Israel and was founded in 2009, was granted a patient on the mobile smart-authentication technology in 2013. This technology is crucial for Ping to continue increasing its foothold in mobile.

Accell's technology addresses the lack of security inherent in user-managed passwords and the significant limitations of one-time, token-based solutions. The acquisition allows Ping Identity to quickly incorporate a secure yet simple mobile authentication solution into its comprehensive identity and access management platform. On top of this, Ping Identity also gains rockstar team of engineers to drive the organization’s investment in mobile.

When it comes to mobile-friendly authentication methods, it is difficult to reach the right balance of authentication strength, total cost of ownership and user experience.

"Authentication in a mobile world is an incredibly complex problem that Ping Identity is taking on with full force," said Andre Durand, CEO, Ping Identity. "Acquiring accells speeds our efforts by adding to our industry pedigree an elegant user experience; secure, context-driven multi-factor authentication; and an expert team to expand our mobile capabilities quickly."

“By integrating accells technologies with Ping Identity we combine our deep domain knowledge, expertise and technology to provide the seamless and secure mobile authentication experience that’s necessary today,” said Eckhard Ortwein, co-founder and CEO of accells technologies. “Access to mobile applications and services will be easier and more secure as a result of the acquisition.”
