The first Denver Startup Week in 2012 brought together nearly 6,000 startup enthusiasts from around the state. This success has spurred another celebration of Colorado startups: this time, Northern Colorado companies are getting some love with the first ever Fort Collins Startup Week, which is slated to take place May 20 to 25.

Co-organizers Steve Hamaker, Kari Henley and Launch Haus firm are hosting the 5-day event which will kick off with a keynote from Gerd Leonhard of The Futures Agency.

“Fort Collins Startup Week is slated to highlight everything entrepreneurial in Northern Colorado, from leading-edge tech to social innovation, maker labs to music, tasty hops to leaps in bioscience, and some of the coolest and quirkiest main street establishments anywhere in the country,” Chris Snook, organizing chair and co-founder of Launch Haus, said in a press release.

Just like Boulder Startup Week will be highlighting Boulder entrepreneurship the week just before, Fort Collins Startup Week is aimed to foster the new energy of NoCo. Fort Collins was actually placed in the No. 2 spot for high-tech startup density by Kauffman Foundation, a testament to its fast growth.

SeonAh Kendall, the City’s Economic Policy and Project Manager, said in the release: “The City of Fort Collins is pleased to participate in this event, which will help highlight many of the small businesses and entrepreneurs in our community and help them connect with resources.”
