3 Tools Every Digital Agency Should Be Using

Digital marketing agencies tend to have a very fast paced environment that can lead to mismanaging time and responsibilities falling through the cracks. It is important to stay ahead of yourself and your deadlines by utilizing the tools that are available to you. The industry is saturated with a mountain of different applications and you will have to sample many to find the right fit. At Revenue River we use three tools in particular that help us continue to deliver amazing content and results for our clients every day.

Project Management- Trello

Trello is a project board application that we use to assign tasks and deadlines. The interface is super simple and very easy to use. The biggest benefit is that you can give clients visibility to their campaign boards to keep track of project deadlines and progress. This visibility keeps everyone on the same page and can help to avoid wasting time on progress reports because anyone can comment on a project card within the board.

Communication- Slack

Slack is a messaging and file sharing tool that many agencies use. For us it is used primarily for interdepartmental conversations and quick answers or shout outs. For example, if Kelley is working on a blog article but I need to ask her a question I can shoot the message to her in slack and she won’t have to stop what she’s doing to answer the question.  If that answer requires a document for proof, she can drop it into the message box and it will automatically send directly to me. Slack also has a mobile app, so it makes communication easy no matter where you are.

Business Process Management- Methodologee

Methodologee is an online application for file storage and process/procedure filing. Marc Herschberger, Director of Marketing at Revenue River Marketing, stated that “the great thing about Methodologee is the mixture of its ease of use (it publishes and views just like a blog), customizable functionality (allowing us to segment our processes and select who can see what) and simple pricing model (no paying per user-per month, just a simple monthly fee). All of this added together has helped our agency establish an accessible knowledge base that has helped new employees ramp up to speed faster and existing team members find the necessary "how-to's" quickly and easily.” Marc has set up some amazing work flows and processes through Methodologee to help us, as a team, stay organized and manage our time better per project.

There are a lot of different applications and management software out there to help you manage your time and prioritize responsibilities. I outlined the three that we use at Revenue River Marketing. To me the most important tools are project management, communication, and business process management. You may have to try a few different applications to find what works best for your agency
