Big to do: Here's what a sr. channel manager does all day at Vantiv


We’re taking a look at the to-do lists of tech professionals across Colorado to learn what it’s really like to do their jobs.

As a senior channel manager at Vantiv, Tony Ghellar manages a portfolio of over 50 partners, keeping them up to date about the credit card processing and technology provider’s products and services. With that many partners, you can imagine that his to-do list fills up fast. Here's how he manages it all. 

FAVORITE ITEM ON MY TO-DO LIST: The most interesting and exciting item is keeping in touch with partners across the U.S. Each partner has its own unique story, and it feels great to be a part of their success. Whether I’m making calls to check in or helping resolve issues as they arise, maintaining those relationships is the best part of working here.

HOW I TACKLE MY TO-DO LIST: My partners range from small businesses with one employee to medium-sized shops with hundreds. The key to success is taking the time to get to know them individually. That's how I can understand their business models and needs — and help them realize their goals. Most important, I express my enthusiasm for their success.

HOW I CELEBRATE A JOB WELL DONE: First, I thank my partners for their business. There are a lot of payments providers out there, and I stay grounded and grateful that they chose us, letting them know how much I appreciate them.

Beyond that, my girlfriend Michelle Hevey — who is also a top performer at Vantiv — loves to travel as much as I do. So we celebrate our successes with adventure. We'll go somewhere warm or take trips to the Midwest or East Coast to visit families and friends.
