5 Colorado tech companies where you can put your bilingual skills to use

As the global economy becomes increasingly connected, demand for bilingual workers continues to rise. Being able to speak other languages fluently can not only help you stand out from other jobseekers but can also often be the deciding factor that lands you the job.

Here are five Colorado tech companies looking for bilingual talent to join their teams.

What they do: OpenTable connects diners with restaurants all over the world with an online reservation system and review platform.  

Who they’re looking for: They’re eager to find customer service representatives who speak fluently in either English and Spanish or English and German.

What you’ll do: You’ll work with the company’s diverse clientele of both restaurants and diners to troubleshoot problems and ensure every customer has a positive experience.

What they do: Guild’s education platform is reinventing training and education for the American workforce. They work with companies to improve educational benefits and then help workers better understand and utilize the opportunities offered by their employers.

Who they’re looking for: Guild is looking for a bilingual, Spanish-speaking admissions advisor and a Spanish course instructor to join the team.

What you’ll do: As an admissions advisor, you’ll work with prospective students to help match them with programs that align with their educational goals. Or if you prefer to get your hands dirty, you can get in the classroom and guide students through the early stages of learning Spanish as a second language.

What they do: HomeAdvisor operates an international home services marketplace that enables homeowners to find the right person for any of their home improvement or repair jobs.

Who they’re looking for: They’re looking for business customer care representatives, and while being bilingual in English and Spanish isn’t required, it’s a major bonus that could easily set you apart.  

What you’ll do: You’ll work specifically with member businesses to assist with account changes, billing inquiries, website assistance and client retention.

Who they’re looking for: They’re on the hunt for an all-star collections specialist who can, ideally, work with both Spanish- and English-speaking small business owners.

What you’ll do: You’ll foster relationships with small businesses that receive OnDeck loans and help them navigate the lending and repayment process with expertise and compassion.

What they do: Mobile Citizen is an initiative of Voqal, which is a collaboration of five nonprofits dedicated to advancing social equity and supporting nonprofit organizations with technology and media. The initiative is specifically focused on providing affordable mobile internet to educational entities, nonprofits and social welfare agencies.

Who they’re looking for: They’re looking for a bilingual account representative to join the operations team in Longmont.

What you’ll do: You’ll work in a team-oriented environment to maintain relationships with current Mobile Citizen customers and support the growth of new accounts. It’s a small organization, so you’ll have the opportunity to grow and be heard, doing everything from fielding calls and questions to building new processes and procedures in your department.
