PlayerLync automatically pushes and pulls videos and documents onto tablets, allowing teams to share in new ways. Since the company’s founding in 2011, they have pulled in some truly impressive customers. Greg Menard, the CTO and Co-Founder of PlayerLync, is in charge of all the technical aspects of the business. We caught up with Menard and asked him some questions:

What technologies power your business? Our customers across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and NCAA, and in the enterprise space, use PlayerLync on iPad, Microsoft Surface, and Windows 8.1 devices. As such, PlayerLync is a very heavy iOS development shop and we also leverage Microsoft technologies. We are also using next gen development frameworks, like Angular, for our programming, which really helps us expedite development and create richer experiences.

What upcoming tech project are you most proud of? We are about to roll out some pretty cool enhancements, but the ones I am the most proud of are the performance improvements we are making to our base platform. We are integrating and providing a full-scale system to automate our processes for the true large-scale enterprise. The ability of our platform to massively scale, along with the power of our video compression technology and content control over low-bandwidth networks, is going to seriously blow some minds.

What trends do you see in the tech scene over the next three years? The trends I see are the ones where PlayerLync and our customers are perfectly positioned: proliferation of video and more mobile devices in the enterprise. As it relates to training and learning, folks will look to add new layers to traditional learning. Learning will continue to evolve to be more bidirectional with large enterprises leveraging ideas and experiences from across their organizations to drive true social learning, with an emphasis on video.

Shrinking attention spans and increasing content consumption drive us to make things smaller, and put them in the right places for easy access at the right times– versus traditional learning composed of units, tests, etc. With PlayerLync, we allow people to work and learn on their own time to get them thinking and learning more.

What sort of people do you look for when hiring? We look for self-managing, innovative, forward thinking A+ players. We’re a small group right now and everyone plays a major role. To succeed at PlayerLync you need the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to conjure and create the next great technological step.

What are some lessons you’ve learned about working in Colorado? Words of wisdom? A lot of PlayerLync’s first customers are based in Colorado and appreciate the fact that we are located here. We started with the Broncos, Avs and Rockies, and I know that Chipotle and Red Robin also really value us being so close and part of the community.

Colorado is becoming a really solid tech hotbed and as such, hiring top talent can be tough. Because of this, we’ve learned to always be warming our bench even if we don’t have an immediate opportunity available.

There’s also a really good investor community in Colorado that remains accessible and engaged to help drive the continued growth of our tech sector.
