Even though it’s a four-day workweek, that’s not stopping some Colorado startups from taking in major funding. According to SEC filings, two Colorado companies took in over $30 million yesterday.
Denver-based Welltok, the makers of the CafeWell health platform, filed that they had received just over $21 million. As to the details of the filing, the company isn't saying much.
“Welltok’s SEC filing is associated with the organization’s recent acquisition of Predilytics," Jeff Margolis, chairman and CEO of Welltok said. "Welltok is a private company and, therefore, any financial aspects of this deal will be kept confidential.”
According to Built In Colorado data, that brings Welltok’s total funding to just over $108 million. This funding comes just months after the company raised $12 million in Series D from Catholic Health Initiatives and Hearst Health Ventures.
Welltok's filings come on the heels of a major acquisition last week of the health analytics company Predilytics. That acquisition is expected to allow the company to offer better predictive analytics on their CafeWell platform. Hopefully we'll all be healthier for it.

The other company raising big dollars this week is Boulder-based Sphero (a.k.a. Orbotix). The company filed with the SEC that they had received just under $11 million from the Foundry Group, Shea Ventures and Mercato Partners. According to Built In Colorado data, that brings Sphero’s total funding to $42.5 million. In May of 2014 the company received $15.5 million in funding from the Foundry Group and Highway 12 Ventures.
Sphero recently built a new droid featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It delighted Star Wars fans by announcing ] they would be making a consumer version of the drone. So far there’s no word on when that’ll be available, but you can sign up for updates here.
