The Downtown Denver Partnership has released data on the state of startups and entrepreneurship in the city, incorporating funding and exit numbers from Built in Colorado. The stats show a strong and growing tech community in the city, confirming that Denver is one of the nation's most fertile gardens for startups.

According to the numbers, there are 373 startups with 3,108 empoyees in Denver. In 2013, 80 new startups were born, and Denver companies raised almost $200 million in the second quarter of 2014. Startups make up 7.5 percent of businesses in Denver.

“The numbers speak loud and clear,” said Tami Door, the Downtown Denver Partnership's CEO and President, in a statement. “Downtown Denver is the place that creative, innovative and passionate people want to be to grow their startups. The center city has an incredible entrepreneurial energy that invites people to get engaged and think big, and we will continue to provide the resources and tools that help entrepreneurs and startups succeed in our community.”

In addition, the density of other tech startups downtown, specifically in LoDo, brings energy and opportunity for serendipity that is hard to find in an office park.”

This release coincides with Denver Startup Week, in which Built in Colorado is taking part. For a list of startups that are hiring and are must-see stops on the the Denver Startup Week Startup Crawl, click here.
